Biography

I’m a Registered Social Worker (MSW) with 18+ years of experience supporting children, teens and adults in various mental health settings. These have included community-based counselling services for adults and more recently, with children and teens within the public school board. I have many years of personal and professional experience supporting children and adults living with type 1 diabetes, in addition to training in this area. I currently offer private, individual therapy in-person in Whitby and virtually across Ontario. My approach is warm and welcoming, supporting my clients to recognize their own strength and motivation to reach their unique goals. Whether coming to terms with a new diagnosis or navigating changes/transitions for yourself or within your family, mental health support can be a meaningful experience, allowing you to voice your thoughts and feelings. With a specialization in anxiety and trauma recovery, I’m happy to share skills and strategies I’ve learned to help manage the stressors associated with health-based anxiety and related social-emotional challenges. Therapy is tailored to meet each client’s specific needs, drawing on evidence-based therapeutic methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. With younger clients I also use elements of play therapy.
